On May 9, 2016, Life Care Center of Tucson, Arizona, began its celebration of National Nursing Home Week.
In staying with the national theme, “It’s a Small World with a Big Heart,” the facility celebrated associates’ and residents’ various cultures.
On Feb. 23, 2016, residents and associates from Life Care Center of Tucson attended the 91st Annual Tucson Rodeo Parade.
Also known as the Fiesta de los Vaqueros, the event is the largest non-motorized parade in the country, and it offers lots of color and excitement. Community members and organizations ride horses or are pulled along in wagons, in addition to walking and dancing along the route.
National Pi Day was an extra-special occasion for residents and associates at Life Care Center of Tucson, Arizona.
The day was observed on March 14, 2016, because the month/day date format is 3/14/16 since 3.1416 are the first five digits (rounded) of the mathematical value of pi.
On Feb. 12, 2016, Life Care Center of Tucson, Arizona, held its annual Valentine’s celebration, the Sweetheart Ball.
This year, the facility had local musicians Desert Mountain Duo perform a variety of love songs. The dietary department created fabulous treats, including chocolate-covered strawberries, chocolate-covered bananas, a fruit platter and strawberry ice cream with choice of toppings.
On Jan. 21, 2016, Life Care Center of Tucson, Arizona, celebrated National Hug Day.
The activities department made little treat bags filled with Hershey’s Hugs and a little message that said, “Happy hug day.”
Associates and residents alike joined in on the fun and friendship of sharing hugs all around to those who were accepting of a hug, and a smile and warm wishes for the day for those who weren’t quite the hugging type.
On Jan. 29, 2016, Life Care Center of Tucson, Arizona, held its Third Annual National Fun at Work Day sponsored by its long-term care residents.
Residents held small carnival games in the activities room that associates could play in one minute or less. Associates and residents had a wonderful time.
On Nov. 7, 2015, multiple associates and several residents from Life Care Center of Tucson, Arizona, joined the community in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s held at the University of Arizona.
“The Alzheimer’s Association is an incredible organization to support,” said Ryan Cornelius, interim executive director. “We were proud to have our staff and residents assist us in raising more than $500. Having the residents with us during the walk was extremely special for the associates and their families who were able to attend.”
